Howie Forest Products take our responsibility to the environment seriously. Howie was one of the first major UK sawmills to achieve Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification.

FSC accredited certification shows that the forest of origin has been independently inspected and evaluated according to principles and criteria agreed by the Forest Stewardship Council. There is a monitoring and tracking system, known as 'chain of custody', in place through every stage in the supply chain, scrutinized by independent certification bodies.

Certified packs of timber from Howie's carry a label showing the FSC 'tree tick' logo; our certificate number, TT-coc-1500 and the certification body, in our case BM TRADA, and a unique pack number which allows us to track each and every pack.

The FSC logo identifies timber as originating from a forest, which is managed according to internationally, agreed standards covering social, environmental and economic aspects of forest management.

FSC provides an incentive in the marketplace for good forestry practice.
